As a part of Walden's MSED program, I had to complete an Action Research course and write a research report. Now, months later, I would like to expand upon what I've done and possibly publish. The problem is, I don't know how. Have either of you had experience with publishing articles in journals? What's the process? Thanks, Matt
First complete the article. Find the journal you would like to publish in. Requirements for publication are usually found in the journal itself. Some may have it once a year in an index edition. I think all will have web sites with the requirments posted. In general, formatting of text and citations and other stuff will be covered. Figures, tables, and photos likely will be required on individual pages. Number of hard copies and format of electronic copies will be stated. Some journals allow you to suggest peer reviewers. The most I have done is request the reviewer have a particular background (actual employment in the field) without requesting one by name. Do not attempt to format as you would like to see it published. Inserting figures, etc., is something the editor does. The process can last several months. Good luck!
If you go to the Distance Learning Forums, you will find a list of several peer-reviewed journals in the thread "Major Journals on DL"
Thank you, however the bit I would like to publish has nothing to do with distance learning at all. The action research I completed surrounded instructional techniques. I've contacted our school's former educational consultant, and I'll probably be working with him to publish. Thanks to each of you though! -Matt
