  1. i just moved in to a new townhouse and we have low flow shower heads in our showers and they are horrible. At our old place we didn't and I am accustomed to some serious pressure in the shower. any one know where i can get my hands on a shower head with some pressure? Do they even sell high pressure shower heads anymore?

I had the same problem. I took off the shower head and removed a restrictor. I guess it would depend on the model but you can try.

  3. sorry but I am not much of a plummer, what does the restrictor look like?

If you've got particularly hard water in your area then the pressure drop could simply be due to lime deposits etc. in your shower head. Take it apart and look. You're a mechanical guy (elctromechanical at least) you'll see how it works. You probably just need to go out to your local plumbing distributor and get a new shower head. Tell them what you want and they'll give it to you. If, however, there is a real problem with the overall water pressure in your condo (you can usually tell by checking other outlets - faucets, etc - the gallons per minute method described previously is the standard), then you can have a booster pump installed (it's not that big of a deal, it just needs to get "wired in" somewhere).

  5. thanks! i dont think there is a pressure problem though, in my sink it is so powerful it splashes all over me on full blast, i think i might have to take a trip to the store though, hopefully they can help me.

It would look like a piece of plastic between the part that screws on the pipe from the wall and where the water comes out. As Kizmet said, it my be a build up also. I have used CLR to clear a shower head. Good luck.

Yeah, I will add to what Kizmet said. Sometimes when you unscrew the shower head, there is a little screen that filters out debris. With time, rust and lime particles can clog the screen, and restrict the water flow. Check it out, the screen is about the size of nickel, and looks like those little screens they sell for pot pipes! :)

For what it's worth, I've got very low waterpressure (old house) and installed this.

Soooo much nicer than showerpicks or cheap nickel heads - and they sell them at home depot too.

Goes on in 5 minutes - no plumber or tools required...and the added height is nice too.
