I decided to make an online visit to my old alma mater, International College, but lo and behold, I discovered that they changed their name to Hodges University due to a 12 million dollar grant by Mr. and Mrs. Hodges. I'm absolutely stunned!!!! Did I graduate from International College or from Hodges University? Will future transcripts reflect International College or Hodges University? Should I tell people that I graduated from International College or from Hodges University? Geeze O'Pete!
You graduated from International. It isn't a big deal to use the new name, but most people don't. (I use Excelsior's name when I graduated--USNY.) Your transcripts will likely say Hodges, but may make reference to its old name. (Mine say USNY, with a note that they're now issued by Excelsior.)
They have a FAQ about it (PDF). Most relevant to you: I find their advice reasonable, but I wouldn't really worry about it either way. After all, it's not a big school, so if you're still in Southwest Florida, everyone will know what you mean no matter what you put, and if you're not, no one will know what you mean no matter what you put. -=Steve=-

Thanks for the link. Based on what is in the link, it is acceptable for a graduated student to tell others that he graduated from the new name of the school (Hodges University), instead of the old name (International College). Subsequently, I'll tell others that I have a BS in business management from Hodges University. The newer transcripts will apparently reflect the new name as well. Since transcripts are now computerized, it's probably easy to changeover the complete database to the new name. Now, what to do about that 14k gold ring from Jostens with the International College name and logo on it???!!! If my memory serves me correctly (???), Jostens will replace a ring for free, if a student graduates with a higher degree -- so I guess I could change it from International College to my Masters alma mater -- or I could keep it "as is" as a souvenir memento. Possibly the latter.
me again: "That's still not as good a name as Skidmore College." We got into some college merger discussions years ago. It was suggested, I recall, that Skidmore might consider merging either with Slippery Rock or the College of Great Falls.
How on Earth did you find that? I must admit that Goodykuntz University would be an interesting name, especially for a women's college.
The link at the new website says it can be written either way: BS International College (now known as Hodges University) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . - or - BS Hodges University (formerly known as International College) I never liked the name International College because it isn't international - it's local. The new name sounds better, so that's what I'll use from now on.
