The recent NCU thread has everyone in a tizzy, but it has about played itself out.
I have not seen this much crap stirred up since Greg Elms was around, and that guy really blew me away with his ability to climb to the top of the pinnacle each and every day. (For those who were not around then) One thread in particular was a real hoot; He mentioned he could type out a very long thread ( at 80 wpm's mind you) in the same time it took most people to eat a sandwich. The moment I read that, I was drinking some ice tea and it literally startled me so much, I got choked up and it shot out my nose as I laughed my ass off!

I personally nicknamed it the "Baloney sandwhich" thread. Could he have ment a very plain sandwhich, or one with lettuce and tomato? Many Monty Python options come into play with a remark such as that. Heck, now if I used some real dry Turkey on that sandwhich he could have possibly over taken me, however, if I could have wolfed down one of those cheap tiny Krystal burgers, I believe he would have lost.

I just hope in the long run we haven't traded the witch for the devil.

I just believe civility is the key here and by not beating up on other people's degree pursuits will ensure it.

I started that thread to merely point out I was leaving the NCU DBA for the Valdosta State DPA and the reasons why. It went off on a tangent within the first page. Everyone loves a stage I guess.

Those threads are why I really love the "Ignore List" option on this board.

My Ignore List contains a good number of the people who seem to feel that it is their job to 'put down' another person's choice in schools, programs, etc.

I miss Greg. I heard he was injured in a fall and I have not seen any posts from him in months. While I did not agree with all of his posts, I did admire his dedication to distance education.

I promote this forum and only this forum to people I meet that are interested in DL. I caution them to use the search function on certain users to get a good idea what these people are all about. Easy enough to do. Once you know who is who it is best to remember the saying:

    Do not feed the trolls!

I hope this does not discourage you from sharing your Valdosta State experiences with us. As I mentioned before I think this sounds like a real winner.

    It was very interesting.

You can always tell when you start to "win" the argument, by the way; people start attacking you and not the line of reasoning under discussion. Moreover, the more you ignore their personal attacks, the more enraged they become. Great fun to watch.

Will do. I actually started a couple of classes at VSU on 5/10. I am taking two concentration courses this summer to get ahead of the curve when I formally start the DPA in August.
