Has anyone ordered international edition textbooks that claim to be exactly the same as the U.S. edition?

    Heya, Abner;

Sure have - if memory serves, it was an Org. Management textbook. I did a lot of research using the ISBN, google search terms such as (textbook name) international edition, etc. It worked out fine; the only difference was paperback and black and white graphics for the international edition vs. hardback and color for the US, but content was the same.

    Good luck, bud.

I ordered one for $5 (vs the aspen price of $100 or something) but the shipping cost made it like $40!

The book did everything I needed but 1 page had a printing error (all black) where I needed to reference something. Luckily my prof told me the jist of the item.

As for others, I used a business text (not my call) where it was costing students $100. Amazon (US) had an internation version for $40 or something, and one of my students ordered it. Except for a BIG Banner saying INTERNATION EDITION on the fron and it was Softcover the book was page for page the same (even had gloss covered paper).

Give it a shot and long live ABEbooks.com!

What we should do is start a DETC book exchange group....hmmm see next post.

That's cool! I am looking at a Strategic Mgmt book that has a list price of $200.00, and the new international version is $52.00! The book store that is selling it through campusbooks.com guarantees it, or your money back. The other nice thing is the pages are in color.

Thanks Dave, I am going to go ahead and order it. Can't pass up a good deal.

    Take it easy,

    Abner :)

It's like ordering prescription drugs from abroad. Sure, you can get ripped off, but once you find a good supplier, you'll save a bundle.

    Good luck,

Apt analogy! Speaking from experience? :) :) :)

(Education can be compared to an opiate I suppose.......)

I have bought a number of them and have been very pleased. The main difference is that they are softcovers. Mine even came in color :)

:) No, thanks to my HMO the rare prescription I have to fill costs next to nothing. But, having lived abroad if that weren't the case I think I'd know where to start looking.

Thanks Mary and everybody else! I just ordered an IE book from Abe books for $62.00! The pages are in full color and include an online access code for business week as well. Great deal!

    Thanks,

    Abner :)

One thing to watch out for - some of the textbook publishers scramble the order of the end-of-chapter questions. Question #2 in the US edition might be question #5 in the international edition. All the questions are there - just numbered differently. You want to check an international edition against the US edition before turning in any homework.
