Are a bunch of posts missing from the archives?

So I have a friend who is interested in the Harvard Extension program, and I remember reading some nice threads about it here. I went to search for it, using the keyword Harvard, and I get four results newer than 2001 then a couple pages of threads from 2001.

Same goes for searching for WGU stuff. I imagine this is related to the forum downtime from the past few days. Hopefully they aren't all gone.

There should not be anything missing from the archives, HOWEVER, we just did a major upgrade (basically about 25 versions newer than the version we were previously running) and so it was necessary to upgrade the database.

All of the posts are there, but the search indexes are incomplete. We will be doing some more "massaging" of the database in the next week or two to try and resolve the problem once and for all.

As many of you know, there have been some weirdnesses with the search results from the message archives for several years, and upgrading to the new version is the first step in helping to resolve that issue.

    Thanks for your patience!

Hi Chip, I bet you're aware of the 'Warning: Wrong value for parameter 4 in call to preg_match_all() in /includes/functions.php on line 201' stuff that's going on when trying to reply as well. Hopefully you guys won't have the problems that this poor guy did.

Can someone translate that Warning in terms that an ordinary common lump like me would understand?

Full text indexing is done by running the articles/posts through the indexer function that looks at what words are in the new post or article and puts those words in the index along with a pointer back to the article or post. So what the computer ends up with is something like a book index that the computer can read and interpret. Full text indexing was broken on the old version of vBulletin. I suspect that they need to run some utility functions that will rebuild the indexes for the new release of vBulletin. In other words, something bad is happening.
