AGE BIAS OR ANTI-ADJUNCT BIAS? EEOC charges that a college repeatedly rejected a successful part-timer in favor of younger applicants for a full-time slot. http://insidehighered.com/news/2006/08/15/adjunct
Hmm. A 30-year-old gets hired over a 68-year-old for a full-time tenure-track professorate? Could it be that the college offering a full-time permanent position actually wants someone with a few decades to give? On the other hand, it may be prejudice against adjuncts. After all, if you sell yourself too cheaply, guess what people are going to think you're worth?
Re: Re: Age Bias Or Anti-adjunct Bias? It may simply be that strangers can come with rose-colored glasses - if you don't know the person - you can fantasize all you want.
