There is a great book called "Managerial Spreadsheet Modeling and Analysis" by Rick Hesse. You might want to start there.
A highly regarded and widely used book in finance circles is: Advanced Modeling in Finance using Excel and VBA Staunton and Jackson The level of finance is pretty high, though it does a good job of explaining many of the concepts at a first principles level. The Excel/VBA part is very good.
