Hi Any Eur Ing members here who joined using their IT skills instead of 'physical engineering' skills? I'm thinking of applying based on my IT Network/Internet/Telecom Engineering.
You will apply via EC UK? I understand that the only way to apply is via National Member and in UK its EC UK. If a person is from USA they can't apply am I correct?
I'm in the Electronics field and I have achieved the UK IEng status. I don't know if the rules are different in the IT field. I would be very surprised if the United States is exclude from IT recognition in the UK.
The British Computer Society (BCS) can help in this. The BCS is a Royal Chartered Professional institution for IT Professionals, and is licensed (by EC-UK) to assess/award engineering qualifications (CEng or IEng) in addition to its own Chartered IT Professional (CITP) title. On attaining the CEng title, one can eventually apply for Eur Ing at FEANI through the same institution (BCS, IEE, and etc.)
So the procedure will be much easier for you now... it's just one more step to get the CEng and another step to Eur Ing. Have you asked the BCS HQ about it? BTW, is your MCGI via regular City & Guilds earned qual or via other means (ie. Senior Awards process)? thnx
I have emailed BCS four times and received no replies...yet. MCGI is a Senior Awards process and is equiv to a MSc. Regards
I also experienced the same at BCS HQ now a days. Just wondering though. What were required to earn MCGI, in your case? Would appreciate if you could PM me on that. Thnx
