What I am considering doing is going to my local college. I work now 430p - 130a thurs - mon. I am thinking of taking two classes a term during the day to go for a civil engineering degree. At this rate it will take me roughly 6-7years to complete. I

I am wondering if this is a good idea or not. Having to go to the campus 8-10 hours a week to attend classes means I will be gone quite a bit more from home. I am not sure it is worth the sacrifice on my childrens sides. I am also not sure how my wife would take it in the long run.

    Thoughts?

Civil engineering is a very nice field with a great future. It is not easy though. But I think it is a great decision which will be rewarding not only economically speaking. Good luck!

8-10 hours a week is not bad at all - considering you'd spend a good 2 hours/day on LD courses as well...

So now I have to decide if I am cut out for it. I am very very good at math. Love and am good at Biology, but I suck at and hate chemistry. Frankly I barely squeaked through 1 semester of high school physics. For some reason I had a lot of trouble grasping some concepts and memorizing the 900000000000 formulas. I still have two notebooks full of formulas.

Maybe they will let you take the physics and chemistry courses through LSU independent study, and then transfer them in. You have longer to complete those and might do better.
