Hello all! My name is Patty and I'm from Minnesota, USA. I've been lurking here for quite some time, but this is my first post.

I've been interested in distance learning for years and haven't done anything about it yet. I'm leaning toward Penn Foster. I'm still deciding between the graphic design and multimedia and design programs. I've set a goal to enroll in September (Minnesota property tax refunds come out in August).

A bit about me: I've been disabled since '97. I was down and out for a while but in the past couple of years I quit feeling sorry for myself, demanded and got a more effective treatment plan, got a part time job and saved a little money. Now I'd like to invest some of that money in some education that actually interests me. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make a dream career out of my education; I mostly want it for my own satisfaction.

I was also impressed by a poster named Bill in another thread who told his story about his lifelong learning with Penn Foster and how it stimulated mental wellness (I think those were his words). I want that. I know there will be some headaches along the way, but hopefully when I finish I'll be a bit better off than when I started.

Any comments, suggestions or words of wisdom would be appreciated. Nice to meet you all.

    Patty

    Hi Patty:

I have not attended Penn Foster myself, but hear it is a good school. I am glad to hear you are motivated and excited to start, good for you! I wish you the best.

    Welcome aboard!
