Well, if we must eliminate 90% of the world's population, maybe we can start with the moronic scientist who actually had the gall to make said recommendation, and then continue by eliminating the morons who applauded his speech and the morons who gave him the Distinguished Texas Scientist Award.

I think we are doomed to have a major plague that will eliminate as many people from the face of the earth. I mean, think about it. For how long could we go on at this level when resources are finite? I am afraid some time soon a major (nuclear?) war or a major natural catastrophe or a mortal disease will clear the excess of population for good.

This is the same song and dance the naysayers have been doing since Thomas Malthus. Humans and technology have always adapted. We are still here, and will continue to do so until the giant asteriod hits the planet.

Well, China has implemented some of Malthus ideas. I am sure humans will adapt, and continue on with their progress if they were meant to, if there was a universal, deterministic reason for it. But data are hard to ignore. The Spanish flu, for instance, killed 50 million people. The mutation of these viral agents is uncontrollable. Poor veterinary practices, not only in the Third world, contribute to it, but also the overpopulation. Nowadays, in this globalized world, the number of casualties of an outbreak could grow exponentially. Some would certainly survive but maybe nor you or I would. Pandemic experts claim it is not a matter of "if". It is a matter of "when".

Now I absolutey disagree with you on that one. Technology has exploded and we have done more harm to this planet in the past 100 years than the 1000's of years before that.

It is unfortunate that the rain forrest is on the verge of extinction to make room for people - countless medicines and cures have been destroyed; animals habitats are forever gone - we've killed off entire species of animals - and we're killing more every day.

We are our own worst enemy - with the garbage created on a daily basis and the daily destruction of trees, we're slowly but surely killing ourselves.

Personally, I wish we'd stop wasting money in exploring outer space - considering we can't even take care of our own planet.

Sad as it is, I agree with the original post - however we need not worry about purposely killing people - mother nature is doing it for us.

I posted the same topic on another channel were others such as Uncle Junko mooved to.

I must comment on how civil and intelligent your replies are.
On the other site they reserved to attacks and humiliation.

Just an observation and from my point good reddens.

Lerner, I'm like you - I post on both forums, among others. If you must engage in a battle of wills on one (and your mutual animosity with Janko is pretty well established), then please don't bleed it over to the other.

Show a little maturity, and fight your battles where they occur. I can't see any reason to post details on this forum other than to take a free/cheap shot at someone who elected to leave and can't respond. Save the vitriol and effort for your chosen target on the appropriate "field of battle".

If you really believe that degreeinfo is a "better place", then simply enjoy it and stop dredging up old rivalries.

I was banned from the other site because of his warnings of troll.
And my reaction to his and couple others intimidation and defamation.

Here the post generated a civil ad normal exchange over there only because it was posted by me it became what it became.

I post there under a new 3ed name and so far no negative comments what makes my case even stronger.

I agree with you, there is no need too bring this here.

    So here it stops.
