http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/index.html "Remember the Soviet Union? They decided to quit after watching a DeltaForce marathon on Satellite TV" "There is no such thing as global warming. Chuck Norris was cold, so he turned the sun up" Even funnier is Mr. Norris's silly response to the website (he thinks it will help him sell books) http://www.chucknorris.com/html/events.aspx
I'm confused. What's so funny about this? Apparently, I don't have a sense of humour. I mean, I'm getting emails with this stuff, finding references all over forums that I visit, and I just don't understand the mentality behind it. Not that I'm complaining, to each his own. It's just I don't understand. But hey, the older I get the more I realise that I don't know much of anything. http://www.chucknorris.com/html/events.aspx
I read the website, those are the least funny things I've ever read. So unfunny that they almost make the full circle and become funny by dint of them being so bad. If Chuck himself actually picked those as his favorites, that should be a source of embarassment for him. I can't imagine anyone thinking those are funny or clever other than: gawky, pimpled, socially-maladjusted 15+/- year old boys who wear their older brother's combat fatigues and play computer games incessantly.
"I read the website, those are the least funny things I've ever read. So unfunny that they almost make the full circle and become funny by dint of them being so bad" You are entitled to your opinion "If Chuck himself actually picked those as his favorites, that should be a source of embarassment for him. I can't imagine anyone thinking those are funny or clever other than: gawky, pimpled, socially-maladjusted 15+/- year old boys who wear their older brother's combat fatigues and play computer games incessantly" That's a possibility, that's who probably created the site. I just though it was so completely outrageous. Everyone has a different sense of humor, I like stupid humor like Tommy Boy and stuff like that, but I guess that's my generation :^)
I wasn't trying to slam you, aic712. In fact, I thought I was playing along by slamming the absurdity of it all. I thought that was the direction you were taking this, by saying Chuck's "silly response" and earnestness in thinking he will be able to use the Norris quip phonemenon to hawk books was perhaps the funniest thing of all. Did I miss your point and unwittingly stomp on some toes? If I did, I offer my sincere apologies.
No big deal Fauss, it's definitely stupid I just can't believe they make money off the tee shirts and Mr. Norris doesn't get a cut I thought it was so funny because I can't believe people have time to think of that crap. I found this website when I was in college, one of my roomates had replace "chuck norris" with his name on every sentance, we thought he was insane... And you are right, the fact he thinks that joke website will help him sell "against all odds" is hilarious when he should be trying to get in on the Tee Shirt sales.. As Krusty the clown says "That's the Sweetest Plum!"
now remember the short fad of t-shirts for the Iraqi Minister of Information, dubbed the Minister of Misinformation and they sold a TON of t-shirts with quotes... almost as funny as some of the bushisms websites out there....
I think it all started with a "Late Nite with Conan O'Brian" skit. I remember he used to have a "Walker Texas Ranger" lever that he could pull to get a random Chuck Norris action scene. Just one of those corny things I guess, the internet equivalent of stuffing people into phone booths or volkswagon bugs.
