so many members, so little contributions?

I have been seeing a lot of members online lately, but our threads go nowhere. Can we declare this board 'dead' now? :(

I disagree that our threads are going nowhere; in fact considering that new contributors have started posting I find that a bit insulting. If you want to go, go with our best wishes, but don't denigrate those who don't follow you.

    Steve,

I apologize if you took this the wrong way, I did not mean for it to be insulting. I think I may have worded my original post incorrectly as I have seen much new contributions from members, but I have noticed many senior members not as eager to respond to newbie's inquiries as before. I guess I am still getting over the initial loss of Gregg, Jimmy, Janko and the gang. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you or any of the other members.

Rhonda I too must disagree. I will say that this board is much slower than it was pre-controversy but it is not dead and I don't see a lot of threads that are not-going anywhere. I will grant you a lot of the "regular"senior members have moved on to greener pasture. I do think that has led to some changes but this board is evolving, this perhaps has led to some threads that are started that never reach their full potential. This board currently still attracts a lot of newbies to distance education, it is the reason I am still here to help those who need it. We shall see what happens in the long run.

Like the Czech Republic and Slovakia splitting off from Czechoslovakia. Or something.

Well said, Tim; that's how I feel too.

It's okay Rhonda, and you're right that things are different. I agree that it's a big adjustment and one I'd rather not have had to make. But I still think that both boards will continue and both will add value. Think of it like the Czech Republic and Slovakia splitting off from Czechoslovakia.

    Or something. :)

We just have to stay on troll patrol here as well so none of the KW, Knightsbridge, Saint Regis (or whatever it's called now) etc...advocates start seeping in.

On that note, I am surprised that Almeda college doesn't have people running around singing their praises as much as some of the other mills considering on the exposure they have on sites like yahoo, careerbuilder (sad), and monster (also sad).

Not that I want them to at all, just surprised....

We had an e-mail come accross from our records department (transcript evaluation) that several new students had submitted Almeda transcripts for evaluation of transfer credit and admission to graduate programs. The e-mail outright called them a mill and said to no longer send their transcripts down...sheesh...how many people are they duping?

One way to tell is here....(very very very sad, click on "view consumer reviews")

I've answered the same 100 questions over... and over... and over.

But I'm still here, even if I'm silent. :)

    ???

I'm not sure how a couple hundred posts a day qualify as "dead", but I still find this very useful for the large number of people that come looking for advice and for me to research iffy universities.

I'm still here, just haven't had much time lately. I'm working on the Chartered Advisor for Senior Living designation through the American College, prepping for an international bidniz class I'll start teaching next month, trying to ramp up some marketing plans in my practice, taking a mental health class, and trying to keep up with what my physicians want.

I've lurked a bit, but mostly to keep up with what's what.

Of course, the events of the past month or so have come as a shock. After all, we have had two of our five august Moderators, Jack Tracey and George Brown, resign. Their fellow Moderator, Gregg DesElms, certainly seems to have been awfully quiet since 01-10-06. Our 6000 Club members Rich Douglas and Janko Preotul have left us, as have our 4000 Club members John Bear and Jimmy Clifton. It is, of course, always a shock to lose Senior Members, especially when we lose so many of them in such quick succession as has happened this past month. But remember that you are a Senior Member now and can stand as an inspiration to the newbies. Degreeinfo is not dead by any means, not if we stay and fight to show what kind of a dl board we are, i.e., one that steers our newbies to legitimate dl opportunities in their chosen fields. I would also point out that there is certainly nothing wrong with joining as many dl discussion fora as one can find and certainly Degreediscussions and Distance Education are good forums with excellent potential. In the meantime, I think degreeinfo.com is going to make it just fine, too. Peace!

It is a bit quieter than it used to be, but I have still benefited from the information provided here since the "exodus".

The aptmosphere has changed a bit, but DI is still an excellent source for distance learning information.

Things have quited down here . . . Perhaps a little gratuitous sex and pornography would help. :D

Actually, I'm with me again, who wrote, "I've answered the same 100 questions over... and over... and over." For many of us, it's a matter of "been there, done that."

But we still come around to see if there's any new gratuitous sex and pornography around here. :p

:D Steve, I agree with you and me again about answering the same questions over and over again. It does get a bit redundant! Also, many questions posed on the board recently have not fallen into my realm of knowledge or experience, so I too have been quieter than usual. Perhaps a little gratuitous sex and pornography would help :p

Whoa! Gratuitous sex? You mean by that... free??? Or just unnecessary, unwarranted? ;)

Boy, oh boy!, the boards that have nothing else better to do than talk about us are going to have a field day with these frequisitions for gratuitous sex and pornography!
