This is going to be hard to stomach, when day 1 has quotes like this:

"Lawyer Daniel Petrocelli, making his opening argument to jurors at Lay and Skilling's fraud trial, went so far as to suggest 13 of the 16 Enron executives who have pleaded guilty to federal crimes were innocent but caved into intense pressure from zealous federal prosecutors."

"This is not a case of hear-no-evil, see-no-evil," Petrocelli said, at times animatedly jabbing his finger at the jury. "This is a case of there was no evil."

The sad thing is, I don't think it's a slam dunk case by any means. After you sort through 100 potential jurors down to 12, how many of those 12 do you think have a good understanding of Special Purpose Entities?

Case in point is HealthSouth, another case of corporate looting. Several corporate CFO's pointed the finger at the CEO (Scrushy). The CFO's got jail time, and the CEO claimed he didnt "know nothing about accounting", got off scot-free and sued the company for wrongful firing.
