I have been thinking lately about all the benefits that have come to me from being part of this site. I have:
*Found a school to earn my MS quickly and inexpensively
*Found the courage to enter a PhD program, thought about dropping out and was encouraged to stay in, thought about dropping out, encouraged to stay in…
*Found a great certificate program that I plan to start in the summer
*Got a tip on a school and was able to get my first online teaching position

I would say that is quite a great benefit and it all came from information from people I never met!

    * Through DI, I learned about accreditation and ways to verify the legitimacy of schools.
    * Gave me the courage to take a chance with a relatively new NCU.
    * Provides a constant source of encouragement. I have thought about giving up my quest for a doctorate many times but when I come back to DI, I want to keep going.
    * And the most important aspect of DI…providing a place where I can discuss anything and everything about DL with others that share my passion for learning [this takes much of my DL discussion away from my wife which is good for my health because she has no interest in DL :)].

I would have never learned about NCU. For that I am very grateful.

Degreeinfo has given me the opportunity to learn a great deal about distance learning and has also given me the opportunity to help others get pointed toward distance learning opportunities in their field(s) of choice. It's been a great first year here.

Before discovering this site, I had actually been looking at degree programs at Kennedy-Western and Canyon University. Luckily, I learned a lot about accreditation and distance learning through degreeinfo. I easily could have been taken in by a mill.

Thanks to DI, I found some great programs I never would have learned about otherwise, and I'm currently enrolled at Penn Foster (Education Direct). I have thoroughly enjoyed my studies at Penn Foster so far. The course materials are easy to follow, and for the first time in my life I am able to solve algebra problems...something I never learned in high school.

I learn something new from this site on a regular basis, and I have been in a position to help others as well. I was very proud to read that several other members of this message board wanted to make my thread about free online courses a "sticky", so obviously the info has helped others.

I guess that's what I like most about degreeinfo...people are willing to help others they don't even know find programs which will help them further their education and achieve more out of life.

Always remember and never forget: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH DEGREEINFO THAT CAN'T BE CURED BY WHAT IS RIGHT WITH DEGREEINFO!!!

John Bear's Guide (ever since the 9th edition) was, of course, instrumental in helping me learn about distance learning, but this site has helped me learn even more.

Just love reading the differing perspectives that one area of life, which is normally taken for credit, actually is quite daunting.

    credit punn not intended.

It got me asking inquisitive questions to whoever I meet who also inform me that they're doing DL programs.
I've guided quite a few towards NA and RA programs as a result.

It is just amazing at how effective the marketing of the "experienced based degree" is in the US. It seems like this a market that needs to be addressed more legitimately or systematically or correctly or validly (or whatever) to make it legitamate on the national level? It seems like there is definitely a market for this type of credential.

    Niche marketing 101. McDegree?

While I knew about Charter Oak before I got here, and found out about GW's program independently of here, DI has still be a good sounding board for ideas as I continue to navigate through my academic process. I'm sure as I move toward a decision on where to do doctoral work, that it will continue to do so.

It's also been the best general issues water cooler on the Internet, and while the late unpleasantness has dampened that somewhat, it's been less detrimental than I'd feared.

Great help on doing my job (keeping our company free of degree milled employees)

Being in a small rural area, was never sure if DL Doctorates were legit, have decided on NCU at some point in the future.

Found potential employers (adjunct positions) in amongst all the DL degree offerings I never heard of.

Just glad to continue one of the major points of this website, to inform people of UA and degree mills and steer them in a direction to help their careers.

All of what many already mention and one more thing for me.

this site and specially Gregg helped me in improving my written communications skills, and also how to behave in a siber community such as this.

I learned about DL from the Bear guides and other publications, I have one by Herald Crenshaw as well :).

I already miss some people with whom I used to argue.
    maybe they will be back?

I learned accreditation in the US and learned to evaluate the legitimacy and accreditation status of an American institution. And many things have been learned from DI regarding distance education.

From this site I came to know that Columbia Southern University is accredited and is worth the money I spent for the program I enrolled in (I graduated in 2004).
