I'm an IT professional with a security clearance, and have been for over ten years. I'm looking to take my IT career in a direction that's more focused on community service, but not at the expense of my paycheck. To that end, I've considered looking for work in the fields of homeland security or emergency management. I've been mulling over the University of Washington Master of Strategic Planning for Critical Infrastructures. http://extension.washington.edu/mspci/ The program was developed in conjunction with Washington National Guard partly using federal grant money. A coworker with connections to the WA NG tells me that the they are in fact looking to hire grads of the program. I have found job postings here: http://emd.wa.gov/site-general/jobs-emd/jobs-emd.htm The job descriptions indicate that the salary ranges are between $40k and $60k. Is anyone here in a position to comment on how these salaries compare to the field in general?
