I received the following in a private message from someone I don't know, who has 0 posts on this forum:
Why do I need a safe harbor?

Safe from what? Taint? omfg. lol

Thanks for your concern, stranger, but I feel plenty safe right here. Besides... I'm sure your gang of pharisees wouldn't want a heathen like me hanging around.

I got the same PM. I joined Jimmy's new discussion board and I have participated a little at Degreeboard which, I'm glad to see, is back but I'm not leaving DI over this stupid row. I got great information on DL MBA programs from this site when I needed it, so what in the hell do I need safe harbor from? From pornography? My cable company offers porno on channels that I don't subscribe to and no one is calling me up and offering safe harbor from my television service. I had resolved not to say anything on this board about this porno thing, but this PM is just too stupid. Good greif!

    From the site:

Premier site? Five threads, of which one is a duplicate post. Six posts of which two are either duplicates or apologising about duplicates?

The only discussion "of all issues concerning degree programs" is a one line question about a certain "Columbus University, Mississipi" being a degree mill.

If anything it is rather pretentious.

I got it too. Like others, I believe DI will continue to be the most prominent site for information about efficient, innovative degree programs and diploma mills. I must say, however, I will miss many of those who are leaving.

I got the same PM, but like the others have already stated, I feel safe here.

I have heard that there is porn on the Internet. Does that make everyone who uses the Internet guilty by association?

This sounds so much like the socially responsible investing (SRI) discussion we have every couple of years on our corporate retirement plan.

We don't want to be involved with anything related to (fill in the blank with non-US manufacturers, nucleur arms, alcohol, gambling entertainment, tobacco or firearms)!! When you start looking at who owns what and how they are interrelated, it's impossible to have a generally acceptable "screen" of companies.

Stomping our feet in some little gesture isn't going to change corporate behavior, just limit our investment choices.

I like the Motley Fool advice on SRI. If you truly want to be socially responsible, get involved and do something, don't just pat yourself on the back after an empty gesture.

The safe harbor messenger neglected to fill me in on his own particular background. For example, which diploma mills he runs and which porn sites he's associated with.

I got this PM too. It opened "Dear Bill" so I do not think much of their PR.
