I'd been planning to wait on this for a few weeks while I continue to settle in the area and at Southeastern, but since I fear that the late unpleasantness may cause some people I'd like to meet to stop reading the board, I thought I'd move ahead now.

Let's have a get together of people in the Washington, D.C. area! This event will have no connection to the board. Let's just call it a mini-conference of people with an interest in distance learning, academic effectiveness, and accreditation issues.

I suggest for centralization purposes that we meet at Southeastern University. The school is walking distance from either the L'Enfant Plaza or Waterfront-SEU Metro stations, and on weekends parking is easy in the neighborhood. It's also just off I-395.

I suggest a Saturday starting in the early afternoon. Shall we say February 4 at 2pm?

Those interested in getting together in the Washington, D.C. area, please respond here or email me at [email protected].

Those with a particular interest in an alternative time, date, or venue are welcome to pipe up; I picked these to get the ball rolling.

Steve, I wish you a lot of success in trying to put together this conference. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend because I'm planning to take a couple of weeks vacation to tour Arizona later this year. I have this desire to tour the Hopi Indian reservation and to take the Pink Jeep tour in Sedona. Of course, other than as a consumer of DL I'm not sure I would be a capable participant.

    Good luck!

    Hi JoAnn:

The pink jeep tour is awesome!! My wife and I took that tour less than a year ago, and Sedona is beyond words as well.

    Have fun!

    Abner :)

It would be my pleasure to attend, but I cannot on that day. I have an all-day commitment with my company, about which I am the central figure. It is unusual for me to be booked on a Saturday, but there it is. The next day would be fine, or any other weekend day. Should it remain the 4th of February, let me offer my sincere regards and hopes that the attendees have a terrific time.

I would like to attend but I'll be in Alexandria, VA, for a baptism on that day.

I'll make every effort to be there. It will be a pleasure to meet you and other Degreeinfoers.

    Reschedule to February 11th?

We have two people who are ordinarily okay with Saturdays, but not this particular one.

    How about the 11th instead?

Oh, I just meant this is a way of putting interesting people with a shared interest in the same room. "Capability" isn't an issue here. :)

    Reminder!

I thought I'd offer a reminder that if you're interested in getting together with other people interested in distance learning and accreditation issues, we'll see you this Saturday, the 11th at Southeastern Unversity in Washington, D.C. as per the above details.

I'm not sure what room we'll be in, but I'll put up an obvious notice somewhere in the entry area and let the front desk person know.
