Anonymous Cowards Make Me Sick

I've grown sick of anonymous cowards and the constant feuding that feeds their sick, twisted, ghoulish appetite for human distress, cruelty, and antagonizing. The real world has enough pain, suffering, and hatred without witnessing it online daily as well.

So I'm out of the DL discussion fora for good.

That sounds like a pretty strong condemnation of how you've been treated here. So I went to your profile page and looked at the posts that you've made here in the last week or so.

If you were attacked by somebody, it doesn't look like it happened here on Degreeinfo.

If you think that the signal-to-noise ratio on another board is too low to be useful or enjoyable, then by all means move on. I've abandoned several boards for that reason.

But if you enjoy participating on the discussion boards, then there's no need to deprive yourself of your pleasure. Just demphasize the ones that represent more aggravation than they are worth, and continue on placidly with the ones that you enjoy.

 

Quinn - I was looking forward to hearing about your dissertation/degree. Perhaps you'll make a cameo appearance for that purpose.

Maybe he got a couple anonymous mailings. I did, and blew-up on the board. I figured the coward would respond, but no luck. So, I made an ass of myself.

I've been an ass for years and it has never influenced my income, circle of friends, incalculable enemies, or convoluted humor.

I just hate cowards and those who are self-absorbed and pontificate. So, I guess I can add a few more enemies to the ever-growing list.

QTJ-Don't quit, get booted. It's less cowardly.

I got them in my e-mail w/pseudonyms. But I never found or saw a post by it/them using the pseudonyms. And being computer illiterate, among other things, I kept getting the mail-daemon thing.

After pecking an hour's worth of profanity, I wound-up cussin' myself out. Rather ironic for me and noisy for my yuppie neighbors.

And this is my sixth computer, in one year. Although, some were repaired to finance some Geek's summer home in the Hamptons.

Since Quinn originated this thread I have had some communication with him. I am not at liberty to specify the content of that communication as I have neither asked for nor received such permission. There are, however, two things that I believe I can say. The first is that Quinn is genuinely upset at something that has occurred (he said as much himself). The second (and this does not come from Quinn but from my own access to information as a Moderator) is that there have been no complaints lodged or posts/threads deleted that are connected to Quinn's departure. I have wished him the best of fortune and requested that he return as an active member at any time he feels able to do so.

My ultimate hope here was to respect Quinn's request and let him fade away, if that was his wish. I only posted this message as I had some sense that the speculation was evolving to proportions that he would not have wished. I am not locking this thread but I am asking that people not speculate on this topic. It is, just as Quinn said. Nothing more or less. Thanks.

Since I posted once more to clarify it somewhere else, I'll do so here to avoid speculation:

It's not what someone did to me, either here or anywhere else. It's what someone is doing to others, and not here, or there, but somewhere else.

Sometimes when others are attacked, everyone is attacked. This is one such time. There have been such times in the past. This one, however, was the straw that ....

My recent Open Letter on AED makes it quite clear what I am against.

Once upon a time it was the place to learn/talk about distance learning. Now it's just a pile of trash.
