Oh, now you've done it. Now you've done gone made me come out of Internet forum life retirement (which I entered only this very morning because I've grown weary of certain debates' endless nature).

I used to write novels. I gave it up for some time (2003-present), but hope to get back into it soon. As for screenplays, no, but I wrote plays when younger. Haven't felt possessed to get back into that.

I think I've written 9 or 10 novels, three of which still survive, another which only survives as a series of short stories. The others I trashed when younger, much to the relief of all concerned.

What kind of fiction do you enjoy writing?

    novels and screen plays

I have an interest in writing about drama , suspense and action...

However , I have great interest to write those doomsday scenario novels like the Tom Clancy Novels .....

I have read some screen plays on the internet ...

there is a big difference with screen plays and novels in writing format .....

Comedy is also an interest for screenplays....

How was your novel writing career?

Do you have any suggestions for literary agents ?

I have found 3 sites with information on literary agents....

    I know self-publishing is a difficult task ....

In the beginning ; it is better to work with big publishers .....

what are the elements of a good writer ?

    Re: novels and screen plays

Won an award or two, finding an agent may be easier once a publisher accepts a manuscript, and it varies.

I know that the advice about getting an agent being easier when it seems you don't need one, but agents don't just push manuscripts, they protect your interests once you've been accepted.

My own fiction tends to not be mainstream, so it doesn't have much mainstream appeal.

If you write what you love to read, that is a good start. Then, get it as clean as you possibly can and submit, submit, submit. Repeatedly. It is very important to not give up on it if that's what you really want to do. The publishing world has changed a lot since I was agenting. But the writing world hasn't much. It still requires writing, submitting, and pushing forward even when everyone else and everything else seems to say "do something else."

    the lucrative world of writing

Yes , writing screenplays or best sellers is a challenge ..But it can be done ....

My child hood friend from grammar school published 3 best sellers supported by the New York times .....

Now his stories aren't original but he has written the ideas with good creativity..

I congradulate him for his success.... As a matter of fact ; he inspired me alot to do something in life .....

    Writers out there ....

What are people's opinion of a good story with a catchy plot ?

I mean what made ray bradbury a "ray bradbury" vs "stephen king " ....
