Does Life Exist Without DegreeInfo?

I went to the DegreeInfo website early this morning and saw that it was down for a few hours for maintenance. Immediately I was overcome with myriad emotions: Fear, Anxiety, Frustration, Impatience, etc. Then, I began to imagine a world in which DegreeInfo did not exist, and how those who spend countless hours lingering amongst this subculture of distance learning advocates would spend their time.

Fortunately, that second cup of coffee kicked in and brought me back to cyber-reality. Man, life without DegreeInfo would be, well, ummmmmm, in the words of a pioneer, less-than-wonderful..... ;)

Heh, I know how you feel. Whenever it's down, I always get that same feeling. :)

Makes you appreciate the people who keep it up, doesn't it?

Life without degreeinfo would be an unexamined life, hence not worth living. Come to think of it, what the heck did I do with my life for the 43 years and 26 days before I stumbled onto degreeinfo?

    What is the question?

Perhaps the question is not "Does life exist without Degreeinfo," but rather Is the quality of life good without Degreeinfo ?

I think we all have had positive experiences here and are better human beings because we have this opportunity to share.

Nah! The real question is: Can cyberworlds other than degreeinfo support intelligent life forms?

Indeed! Imagine an alternate cyber-universe where everything was just the opposite (I saw this on one of the original Star Trek episodes). In this alternate cyber-universe DegreeInfo attacked all legitimate degree programs, and degree mills ruled the day.

John Bear was the president of Trinity College & University.
Rich Douglas earned his PhD from MIGS.
Bill Grover was distance learning director for Newburgh Seminary.
    Uncle Janko was anti-Carpathian.
I could go on, but you get the gist..........;)

I got a little silly at one point and had DegreeInfo open on my PC virtually all the time. This is an Englishman speaking who doesn't even have any idea what most of the threads are about...

I have tried to limit myself and have made rules that I only go on non-work related sites before 9:00am and at lunch. It's kindof working!!

Anyway, I though this was an appropriate post for me to get my SENIOR MEMBERSHIP!!

Do we get a pen or anything...?...;)

    Peace,

    Dave C.

You're supposed to get a secret decoder ring from the treasure box upon becoming Senior Member (100+ posts), but one of the mods says they forgot about me because it all happened so fast. But, by all means, if you hang around long enough to make your postometer roll over into four digits (1000+ posts), you must insist that they mail you your justly-deserved Doctor of Pontification degree (which they also forgot to send me).

I think there is supposed to be a secret decoder ring, although mine never arrived.

One thing to note is that of the many threads that mention the ring, only two come up when searched (while there have been many, many more). Conspiracy perhaps?

Maybe your secret decoder ring is on a very slow ship.

So, then... you're saying that the maintenance, whatever it was, didn't include fixing the SEARCH function here. Bummer.

Pretty much. It may have improved (as I cannot recall exactly how bad it was and I did not keep prior search results for comparisons), but it still needs more work.

Well, there's been this problem with the Illuminatti, the Templars, the Bilderburgers, the Trilateral Commission and a number of other cultish groups, including the Post Office. We typically can handle the Illuminatti, etc. but those Post Workers are another matter altogether.

I too have done some minor testing of the search function. While it seems somewhat improved, I've gotten a whole bunch of false positives. I'm going to try again in a day or so as time permits.
