According to the video by CNN (in the link you provided) it wan´t proved that the gator actually killed the python. I guess they couldn´t find enough evidence to demonstrate it.
I forget where I saw it, but I came across an analysis that said that the crocodiles this African python might normally catch are killed by the stomach acid quicker, whereas our tough American alligator was apparently resilient enough to scratch his/her way partially out of the snake's belly. Note the Pyrrhic nature of the victory!

Thats funny, I was thinking the same thing. We will probably start seeing makeshift pools in which a python and a alligator will be released to go at it. The scary thing is if we start to hear of Anacondas popping up in the U.S. This snake is even bigger than the Burmese! I know Anacondas are for sale as pets from a variety of sources, what worries me is if they get out into our rivers, streams, etc. Oh boy! Abner
