Anybody know who the body of government is that governs the home owner associations / property management companies? We tried about 15 office, but are getting the run around.
Those are two very different things. Property management companies might be licensed by your state's real estate board; then again, maybe not. Homeowners' associations are run by their members which, as long as not all the lots have sold, will include the developers. You agree to be bound by their rules when you buy the property. VERY hard to escape these "covenants that run with the land". I cannot stress enough the importance of spending a c note or so and GETTING COMPETENT LEGAL ADVICE before you do anything!
Right now I am a member of an HOA that has draconian association dues....my dues are darn near 1/3 of my house payment every month.
