Gregg DesElms and Steve Foerster have commented on the problem of having to pass to newbies the same basic information (or misinformation), time and again. How about some permanent documents breaking down the standard topics we discuss? A modular/structured (for the purpose of updating) set of documents on CLEP/DANTES, college tests, the Big Trey, accreditation and so on. And/or permanent links to Miller, Liu, Levicoff, etc., and explanatory pages/sites on the net.
In lieu of fixing the search engine I think this is a good idea. There already are a nice bunch of articles but I've long suspected that most newbies race past them on their way to the discussion board, hardly noticing that they are there. Jack
With the search function working, a search on a common topic can bring an off-putting number of interminable threads filled with conflicting data. If I knew nothing about CLEP/DANTES or the Big three, I think my head would be swimming for all I had to wade through. Maybe sticky posts? I'm favoring bite-sized documents as any treatise would be like spaghetti code: might be fun to compose but updating would be like chewing off fingers.
