It has come to my attention that some people are posting degree-related matters here on BaseballInfo.com. I trust the moderators will take appropriate action.

    Dr. Bear:
    :D Good one!

Seeing that there were some BB fans here I thought it would be a lighthearted change of pace. And not being much of a theologian or political scientist I thought root beer and baseball would be ways for me to get involved in OT discussions. ;)

Next OT discussion: proper tree pruning techniques. Can't wait for Des Elms' post on that one!

In an attempt to drag this thread back on topic I'd like to mention that tonight, the World Champion Boston Red Sox will be playing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

I would guess the Sox can't wait after yesterdays 15-2 win. :)

Where is that Connecticut team in the standings? ;)

As a relatively new arrival to the great state of Connecticut I have had to come to tolerate the fact that there are citizens who actually cheer for the Yankees. I believe that I'm correct when I say that those who live West or South West of Hartford tend to be Yankees fans while those to the East/North East tend to be Red Sox fans***. Where I live it's not uncommon to see the occasional Yankees hat or t-shirt in the supermarket.

As to the question about "that Connecticut team," I can only say that it is an exceptionally fun experience going to watch the Norwich Navigators

They are a minor league baseball team attached to the Giants (I think). While major league baseball is a lot of fun to watch on TV I'm afraid that I can not really afford to go to the games (at least not at the price of Red Sox tickets). It's great fun to watch the Navigators or even the Pawtucket Red Sox (AAA) when I get the chance. While I've not had the opportunity, I've heard that one of the better minor league teams is the Portland Sea Dogs (the Red Sox AA team).

I think the next couple of weeks of the regular season will be fun to watch and the post season promises to bring some great basball, regardless of the teams involved.

I was glad to see the Sox do what they did to the Yankees last year. I love baseball in general, but it is rough sometimes being a Cubs and Cardinals fan. My biggest joy is rooting against the Yankees. :D

My favorite players were the Wizard of Oz (Ozzie) and the Hawk (Andre Dawson), both were the total package. ;)

FINAL: Tampa Bay 7, Red Sox 4

And the New York Yankees take 1/2 game lead in the standings with 11 games left!!!

Cards and Cubs fan? You must have multiple personalities. :D

I love the Cards, Cubs rivalry. Everytime they play each other it's like a holiday at my house. This past Labor Day I took my family to Busch Stadium to see them play. On the way to the game, I asked my ten year old daughter if she would rather go to a Cards, Cubs game or to Disney World for a week. Without hesitation she said "Duh...the game".

...and to make the day complete, the Cards won on a
    "monster" homer by Albert.:D

Why rough to be a Cards fan

They have the 2nd winningest record in baseball. Now being a Cubs fan on the other hand, that suffering I can understand.....
