Seeing nothing but ocean in all directions can get boring, too... believe it or not. Keep in mind that Florida doesn't particularly welcome attorneys from outside the state with open arms... mostly to keep attorneys from Northern states from semi-retiring there and taking jobs away from natives. Plus, do you realize how many times a year the keys get evaculated because of the hurricanes? That said, I once spent two days there one month (meaning, only two days is how fast the month seemed to go), and I loved it. The drive's a pain in the ass, though. But the sunsets... oh, lawdy, the sunsets.
Once upon a time I had a conversation with a person who sold real estate in Key West. They said that it was a great, great job. You sell the same places over and over and over. People from up North have lots of fantasies about living in Key West. The buy a place and do all that "Lets go down and watch the sunset" stuff for about a year and then the vast majority realize that they are completely bored and they absolutely hate it. They call up the real estate broker and that same old place is back on the market again. Jack
So that's what's driving-up the price of real estate in Key West! Dry be your wit, Dr. Mudd. (Hey... two jokes in one. Cool.)
