A John McCain (Pres.) Hillary Clinton (V.Pres) ticket would destroy all opponents in the next election.

They should go in the winter, when Alaska could actually use all that hot air.

Using any single location as evidence of global warming is poor science, though it does make a good photo op. There are places warming up and there are other places in the world that are cooling. What is happening in Alaska is merely evidence of "Alaskan warming", rather than "global warming".

That said, I do believe that greenhouse gases contribute cause global warming. I am unconvinced of all the projected harms, but we shouldn't ignore it.

Couldn't all the greenhouse gases escape through the hole in the ozone layer?

LOL That might really disrupt nature though. Imagine the flooding.

Was it last year or the year before last, when Al Gore gave a speech outdoors on global warming in NYC on the coldest day in NYC history? :D

Thanks for the reference, Jack. I remember seeing it on television and thought it was hilarious.

I think Al Gore had great potential at one time. I acutally liked him in 1988 when he sought the Dems nod. Eight years with Clinton corrupted him, in my opinion. It's a shame, a real shame. He was an excellent U.S. Senator who had honor and integrity.

    Re: Ice Caps Melting

    Actually, that's wrong.

The antarctic is getting cooler and gaining snowpack while the 10% of more northerly ross Ice shelf warms. The polar Arctic hasn't warmed, but high North latitudes (think Siberia) are enjoying warmer winters.

    (That's just terrible!)

The media largly reflects the politicization of science - Kyoto and IPCC are the "consensus." Throw $42 billion at a problem (climate change, 90% US federal) and that will happen. It's happened bfore in science (see Michael Crichton's latest).

But recent resignations by hurricane and climate expert Chris Landsea from the IPCC's fourth assessment, and this month's by Colorado State Universities Roger Pielke, Jr., on a US temperature change may signal polarization of authorities.

The bigger news from climate change studies is the breaking of the "Hockey stick." This construct became totemic, a visual of the last thousand years - like a flat stick with a blade jutting up to the right - "proving" that the 90's were the warmest in the last thousand years. (See various links at "Overview" http://www.climateaudit.org/index.php?p=63)

"Our most publicized claim has been pretty much universally accepted: We showed that an unreported step in the original calculations mines datasets for hockey-stick shaped series. We showed that this method can produce hockey sticks even from random data. Since we published our computer code, many others easily verified this result."
    http://meteo.lcd.lu/globalwarming/McIntyre_McKitrick/revisiting_the_stick.html

It turns out that elementary replication of bona fide results can't be achieved. (Opps! - sorry about the money.)

Furthermore, New Zealand and Canadian authorities have been in a uproar about being unable to meet their Kyoto Treaty obligations. Not even close.

Meanwhile, consider the world of insurance where wooly theories play out with practical consequences, ie, real money. In Europe where politics dictates policy, insurance outfits like Munich Re tow the Kyoto line. But in US free market, insurers are unfazed. (see http://www.insidebayarea.com/oaklandtribune/localnews/ci_2951912)

Nothing like changes in science to ruin a "well-thought out" policy for the world.

    Ice Caps

    DTechBA,

    Very good point.

I don't believe that proves life, but it does show that just because the ice caps are melting it may or may not be global warming.

However, that explains only one issue of global warming.

I did find it interest though.
