I'm going to miss Mr. Jennings. Classy, smart guy.

yes - an end to an era with all three anchors gone in one year.

I was very surprised to hear that he didn't even have a HS diploma.

In my opinion, the best of the Big Three.

When his first stint at anchoring in New York wasn't working, he chose to step down and move into the field to learn his craft better, where he stayed for 20 years or so before getting another chance to anchor.

It always seemed to me that he never confused his ego with his job, unlike many journalists of this latter age.

Likewise, he was the classiest and most learned high school dropout I believe I have ever encountered. A fine example that education is NOT about the piece of paper.

I wish we had many more like him.

I was also very saddened to hear the terrible news. He was a great presenter.

Jennings was fine, he irritated me sometimes, but that's OK, I need to be irritated--and I need to irritate--occasionally to get my blood pumping.

But my personal favorite HS dropouts are my mom and dad.

Peter Jennings was perhaps the most intellectually honest anchor of the Big Three in the past few years.

I liked Tom Brokaw as well - but can't stand Rather or Brit Hume. (both were easily outclassed by Brokaw and Jennings)

How many knew that Jennings was a HS dropout?
