As the "Great McNutt" of the old WDSU TV 6 in New Orleans used to say, "Birthy Hap Day!"

Why ruin gracious overtures with two negative postings?

I would suggest you are reading far more into my post than exists. I said nothing negative, only making a reference to Hayes' brown teal work. Nothing negative in my post at all.

But now that you've mentioned it, let's acknowledge the fact that this guy is a promoter of degree mills, has bought two milled doctorates, and constantly attacks me and others personally (with lies) on another board. Of course, he doesn't have the guts to do it in a board where we both post.

Neil Hayes is a fraud with fake degrees. Now that's negative!;)

(Too bad, because his fradulent degree activities detract from what seems to be good service in his field.)

Or mine, really. Well... okay, maybe a little.

Hel-lo. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! I love it when Rich just up and cuts to the chase. What he said!

Actually, that can be said for several folks over in the other forum to which you refer... or at least so it was the case last time I looked at it... which I try not to do any more than a couple times a year, if that.

No, Jimmy, you're mistaken. Look at my original post. But if you're going to accuse me of something, I might as well do it. Besides, other readers might not know why one would speak negatively of the ersatz-Dr. Hayes. Now they do. For that, thanks.

This is one I never could figure out. Taking Dr. Hayes' (or is it Haynes; I can't remember) posts at face value and assuming that he really has accomplished all that he says he has (including, IIRC, a decoration from the Crown for his Brown Teal work), what on EARTH would cause him to defend diploma mill doctorates? Surely he is in a position to do without a doctorate, receive an honorary degree, or earn the real thing. I mean, if the guy isn't a fake himself, why lend his name to such dubious enterprises? I just don't get it.

    With a "quack, quack" here,
    And a "quack, quack" there, . . .

    Oops, sorry. . . . wrong song.

In all good fun, Happy Birthday to a hell-of-a New Zealand teal expert.

Now, let's all chow down with some chowder and quackers.

    That's the rub, isn't it?

My understanding is--and correct me if I'm mistaken--Neil doesn't have any degrees from legitimate universities. If he has a burning desire for the title, what other route does he have? And if he takes that route, what other choice does he have but to defend it? But....

What I don't understand is that most degree mill customers would sooner die than to have people know about them and their fake degrees. But Neil is the opposite: he publicizes it. And not only once, but twice (TC&U and Knightsbridge). I guess it doesn't snap back on him in his professional life.

What slays me is that all we know about how he obtained his two fake Ph.D degrees we know from him. So even with his best spin on his story, it still comes out sounding like someone who (a) bought a degree, (b) decided he wasn't happy with it, and (c) bought another. The process he revealed regarding his Knightsbridge degree is one the school must be ashamed of.

I assume otherwise. I assume that Neil thought that the process he described was academically reasonable. The reason being was that I got the impression that he when he was describing the process he thought that it would shut us all up and prove once and for all that Knightsbridge University was a valid school that used accepted academic processes. I further assume that the KU administration felt the same way as Neil.

    Two funny things:
    1) Hayes' dissertation is good. I read it.
    2) People who defame Douglas' diss process defend Hayes' diss process.
    3) Remember Tracey Ullman's bit about the birthday party?

I have read both and have complimented both. Actually, I think you and I may be the only ones who have complimented both dissertations.

Actually, I was not all that serious, Dr. Douglas. But, come one, can you sincerely state you didn't expect such follow-up posts that would give you the opportunity to actually diss the good doctor?

BTW, haven't seen or heard the word "ersatz," used in quite some time. It's a good word and thank you for using it.

    Why bother....

Question, why bother to do a good dissertation then fail to get your degree from an accredited institution? Cost can't be an issue since South African universities are ridiculously cheap.

Could it be because Dr. Hayes doesn't meet the coursework prerequisites for admission to a recognized doctoral program?

    Re: Why bother....

My guess would be he didn't have an accredited master's for entry into an accredited doctoral program and the process of attaining a qualifying degree and then entering into the doctoral program would have taken time needed to write such a timely, critical, and superb paper on one of the most important issues of our time.
