Okay, great. Now, if the UK will end it’s occupation of Northern Ireland we can call it a total success. But then again, look what happened when they ended their occupation of Iraq. Post-colonialism is awfully complex. Just remember that the RUC killed more people than the IRA ever did.
Does it not matter that the majority of Northern Ireland residents want to remain part of Great Britain? I don't recall the RUC ever planting a bomb in a toy store at Christmas time.
No, you're right. RUC collusion with UDA and UVF "death squads" is certainly not as shocking or offensive as a bomb in a toy store. It is, though, just as deadly (as are rubber bullets used against women and children).
The IRA's funding sources have probably dried up dramatically and any new terrorist campaign would be a complete and utter public relations disaster in the current climate.
