I have been working on my "Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management" with a "Registered Training Organisation" from Queensland, Australia.

I have completed 10 units from the RTO in question but decided to leave with a "Statement of Attainment" rather then the entire qualification after a problem I had with the RTO.

Here is where things get weird. I have contacted 4 other RTO's who offer the same qualification. My hope was to gain the qualification from one of them via transfer credit and RPL.

Everything was going alright until I told them that I took my level I to III qualifications with another RTO. 2 out of the 4 RTO's told me that I should gain my "Certificate IV" with the same RTO that granted me my level III qualifications. I was told that it is unwise to gain qualifications with different RTO's and that it is best to gain them all with one RTO..."for employment purposes."

The third RTO gave me a similar speech but agreed to work with me if I still wished it while the 4th agreed that it is best to gain all qualifications with one RTO, if possible, but was told by them that they would be happy to help me out.

I cannot understand for the life of me why it is important to gain qualifications with one RTO rather then gaining those SAME qualifications through several ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE NATIONALLY RECOGNISED QUALIFICATIONS!? Responses would be appreciated. This is confusing.

    Hi Horatio,

What you are experiencing is highly unethical and you have grounds for a serious complaint with the respective state training authorities. Please contact me privately and I can help you sort this out.

    Cheers,

    George

Thank you for your response George!

I have sent copies of the offending emails to the applicable state training authority's and accreditation commission's along to the ANTA. I wanted their opinion on this matter as well...it was a good thing that I did send them copies.

Interestingly enough I am not too upset about the episode because any RTO that is idiotic enough to pressure me and possibly even deceiving me into NOT giving them business is not worth the effort.

Your answer though does clarify the issue. Their position did not make sense, all that should matter is that someone has the qualifications not where they earned them. If an RTO does not want to do business with someone just come out and say so but to play games like this is pitiful.
