I'm looking at applying to a military commissioning program later this year, and it requires one of these two be taken.

For those who know, which would you prefer? Are the verbal/reading comprehension sections comparable between the two? How about math? I did Trig and Stats in my undergrad, but that was like 12 years ago...I honestly don't think I'd feel comfortable with anything much more difficult than College Algebra without some major refreshing. My Masters was non-technical, so I had no math with that program.

    Thanks.

With all due respect, the answer to this question will be so individualized that it will not be useful. If I told you that I had great luck with the GMAT but I did badly with the GRE, what would that mean to you? You don't know anything about me or my experiences or my abilities. You need to research the tests themselves and then decide which one plays to your skills and abilities. My experience doesn't necessarily mean anything in regards to yours.

My best advice: prepare and relax. Relax and prepare. Repeat.

The math on the GRE isn't that bad. It really isn't anything more difficult than college algebra, but they try to trick you up with definitions of math terms. Take a few practice exams and you should do fine.

The verbal part is pretty brutal. I suggest start reading the dictionary in your spare time.
