What happened on May 2 at 5:43 AM? Did I miss a meeting? “Most users ever online was 171 on 05-02-2005 at 05:43 AM”
If I had to guess, I'd say that that was one of the times that this site came back after being down for awhile. I'm guessing that people realized it was back because all of a sudden they started receiving emails notifying them of new posts in threads to which they were subscribed; and then they all came here in a kind of rush, all more or less at once... hence the new high number in the "most users ever online" field. (Prior to that I believe, if I remember right, it was a hundred and twenty something users back in 2003.) It's just a theory, mind you, but it's what I'm guessing happened.
