Anyone know the fastest way to get a passport these days? I just realized that mine is expired. Through the post office I can do expedited service, but it still takes two weeks. Anyone tried one of the passport services?
Yep, I've used www.americanpassport.com and another one I can't remember now. I'm a chronic passport-loser. Once I went to Kinko's to make a color scan of it for backup, left it in the damn machine and someone stole it. The expediting services are expensive, but they work. Call them and they will make sure you have everything you need for the application.
I just went to the passport office in Los Angeles with my application, all paperwork, photos, and a copy of my flight itinerary showing I was leaving for Japan in less than 48 hours and I got my passport in 3-1/2 hours. A rush fee is incurred. Christian
If you're anywhere near Miami, you can go to the passport agency and do it yourself. If you're somewhere like Tallahassee it would be better to use an expediter service.
Got mine in Frisco in a day and a half. All I had to do is to make an emergency appointment -- get a copy of my birth cert and take BART to Frisco. (along with my airline ticket to prove that I was on my way) I had to come back the next day to pick up the actual document. I have to say that the State Dept. is pretty much on the ball.
