Well - got my first B+ since Junior College. Bummed? Absolutely not - I received it in finance -- something that I have never been good at. I was VERY lucky to get that. I guess my final paper was better than I thought (all 27 pages of it - not including addendums and works cited)

Unfortunately, I have two tougher courses in OR/STAT and QMS. If I can squeeze my way through those courses, then everything else will be a piece of cake.

    BTW:

Can you receive a D in a graduate level class and still pass it as long as your overall GPA is above 3.0?

Congrats on the B+; I know how you feel.

I doubt (based on my own recollections of grad school policies) that a D in a grad level course would be considered passing, regardless of your overall GPA. Others may have more specific and more recent information on that than I do. It might well vary by school and by type of grad program.

    Good luck to you.

Most schools will address these areas in the policies. A 3.0 GPA is required to graduate so mathematically you could receive a "D" or an "F" and still maintain at least a 3.0., even over a 30 hour masters. Most of the schools I have looked at or attended limited the number of "C" (normally 2) and "D" or "F" grades. You can be permitted to retake courses, but again, school policies vary and some I have seen state that a "D" or "F" ca result in immediate removal from the program. I scheduled all my questionable courses up front so I can work from there, its been a while since I have taken any calculus so if I get a B, expect to see the Snoopy dance.

Regarding GPA. While you need a 3.0 to graduate it will limit your options should you go on to a PhD. I think the biggest problem with school advisors is that they do not stress what your options are for the future if you are only meeting the minimums.

But so far it seems you are doing well.

    Regards,

I can't imagine any graduate program that would allow a D. In fact, for the ones with which I am familiar, you can get two Cs on your record. Three Cs and you're out.

Good job! a B+ wow! I am resting a little easier this morning, I had a two hour mid term last night for my Envirormental History class, I had to write three essays, no multiple choice at all! Oh well, I think I may have done ok.

    Anyway,

Keep up the good work! Abner :)

I wouldn't sweat it, I got a "B" in Statistics in grad school, and I was thrilled with that. We can't be experts in every field. :)

As for the "D", I don't believe that a graduate program would accept that as a passing grade, at least I haven't seen one that would. An undergrad program, yes.
