Does anyone know what format is used for dissertations, theses, citation, biblio., etc., in
    Australia,
    Nigeria,
    South Africa,
    or
    the UK?

Especially in humanities and/or social sciences?

In South Africa, the OSL* style is mandatory.

Hi guys: Thanks for your information. I'd never heard of the Harvard pattern--or the Vancouver--or a couple other acronymed ones. Shows what I know. I hope somebody who knows about Nigerian usage posts something. Again, thanks. Janko

PS. Now I'm wondering what German or (real) French universities use...

Over here, we always used to be taught to use the Oxford style with the choice between footnotes and endnotes left to the individual. Of late, I've noticed Harvard creeping in . . . much to my disgust as I find the Harvard style horribly obtrusive when reading.

    Hi Angela:
Can you suggest a reference book which contains the Oxford style? Thx.
