Browsed through the $1 DVD's at Wal Mart this afternoon. Found one containing three episodes of the 1953-1961 Loretta Young Show.

I had forgotten what an exquisite beauty and fine actress she was.

I know you're jesting but for those who have no idea what you're talking about, Ronald Peller, a degree mill owner who went to prison, was married to actress Lana Turner. He was one of seven husbands!

Turner was married to Lex Barker, who played Tarzan in a few movies. She divorced him after her daughter accused him of molesting her. The daughter shot Turner's boyfriend, mobster Johnny Stompanato, a year or so afterwards. Sounds like the daughter had some issues of her own.

    Oh, oh Hollywood!

Yeah, like not wanting to be molested or not wanting her mother to have a mobster for a boyfriend. Shameful, isn't it?

Does the "C" in your middle name stand for "Contrarian"?

Seems like you always have to respond to many of my posts with some smart aleck, sarcastic, cocky comment.

In the first place there was never any evidence Lex Barker molested her. In the second place, if she did shot the thug just because her mother dated him, that does not justify murder!

Anyway, it was ruled a self-defense killing.

I'm sorry if it seems that way to you.

No one said anything about justification. However, you can understand, I'm sure, why she might do such a thing. Also, I'm reasonably certain that the entire story never came out of either situation.

C'mon Jimmy, you're enough of a Social Worker to know that way back then nobody paid any attention to allegations of child sexual abuse, especially if the alleged perpetrator was a celebrity. As for Stompanado, he was a gigolo and a wife batterer. I don't condone murder but I'll bet there were very few tears shed when his death was announced.

(BTW, I remember Loretta more for her TV show, which was running when I was a kid. It was a bit like a soap opera, pretty boring for me. Despite all that, she was pretty.)

Thanks for explaining my opaque joke. I'm slightly surprised that anyone got it. I frequently make jokes like that for my own amusement. I guess I could close with another opaque joke about the the ex-governor of California but I should probably quite while I'm not so far behind. :D
