oxpecker: I am glad you posted a notice of this new university. It is a name which, without some checking, one would dismiss as another degree mill. You know, sounds British but an unknown quantity, like Somerset University recently posted by John Bear (or any of the many others that claim to pepper the UK landscape). Another example of why careful examination is necessary. Always good to have a new university open its doors, assuming its raison d'etre is education, of course. marilynd

As a former Boltonian I am very happy to see the local college that I attended around 1960 evolve into a university. I earned an Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) in mechanical engineering from Bolton Technical College. Regional Exams for the ONC at that time were administered under the auspices of the Union of Lancashire and Cheshire Institutes (now folded into CENTRA). Much later in life I got credit for the ONC towards my Excelsior degree.
