Said of us all on another forum:

"What I see here is a grubby little agenda against university independence that is ultimately born out of misguided "consumer activism" and media sensationalism. It is left-wing to the point of being positively Soviet."

The same thread goes onto say that nobody who hasn't been a student at an unaccredited school (or, presumably, "school," too) is competent to judge.

I've never had syphilis, but I'd still rather not.

We Carpathians were never very good at being New Communist Men. Oh well.

Wow, that's the first time ever that anyone has accused me of being "left-winged" :D

I think that thread misrepresents the opinion here. I think most regular posters at DI do not make blanket assumptions about UA schools. Still, cautious consideration and a " show me" attitude are not unwarranted when UA schools are discussed.

I have two UA degrees myself. I profited by them .

In my area of study there are some (few) UA Theological schools whose credits or degrees are transferable to accredited schools.

The issue is whether or not the programs of the UA school approximate the substance and rigor of the programs of accredited schools. If they do not, then, IMO the UA school should not offer the degrees given by accredited schools. I think that is using "independence" misguidedly.

Promoting such substandard education is the "grubby little agenda," not exposing it.

But let's do a test to see if I'm banned like some posters elsewhere say happens to them if they dare say any positive thing about UA schools : I SAY THERE ARE SOME GOOD UNACCREDITED SCHOOLS.

    What is to be done?

Not very well, Jerry. I guess I am lacking in reverence for the mos maiorum. On the other hand, Balkanoid though I am, I have developed a fondness for running water, no nearby goats, and more kinds of hats than porkpies two sizes too small. Then there's the absence of a secret police, although that dire lack may well be rectified after a few more years of the Patriot Act and the Heimatssicherheitsamt.

Tony Toni Tone: Me too. It's passing strange.

Bill, you're right, oops, you commie, I mean you're correct.:p

See how much fun a touch of imported surrealism can be?

Unaccredited DL schools not obviously on an accreditation track that I've liked over the years:

    California Coast
    California Pacific
    Columbia Pacific
    William Lyon (briefly NA)
Clayton (until Stone started selling degrees in Asia)
    Western Colorado
    International College (L.A.)
    California American
    U. of Santa Barbara
    U. of Santa Monica
    Southeastern (later Gulf States)
    Southwest
    SCUPS
    Sierra

I'm sure there's more, but those come to mind. Now, the ones that, while not really diploma mills in the strictest sense, infuriate me (I assume for obvious reasons):

    Kennedy-Western
    Century
    U. of Central California
    Golden State
    U. of Beverly Hills
    Kensington
    Pacific Western
    Frederick Taylor
    Knightsbridge
    Chadwick
    Rushmore
    Berne
    Indiana Northern
    Bernadean

Again, I'm sure there are others.

I guess I'm due for a DI stoning!

NWCU law. PCU law. Any of the CalBar accredited non ABA non R/A resident law schools. Massachucetts Law School. The Nashville YMCA Night Law School.

I am NOT saying these schools are "as good as" ABA accredited programs (they probably aren't) but under some circumstances for certain students, these schools may be not only a GOOD choice but the BEST choice or even the only RATIONAL choice.

The same people that complain about agendas, banning, and name calling do the exact same thing on the other end.

If everyone would move on and lay off the personal insults and attempts to humiliate, and just discuss and debate issues like mature adults then it would be much more tolerable in each of these forums.

I agree with both points. The other two boards, especially, Degreeinformation DL, are incredibly intolerant. They ban willy-nilly, too.

I also agree that people should stick to the facts, not attack the poster. But sometimes you have to fight back.;)
