Today marks what would have been the 70th birthday of the "King of Rock 'n Roll," Elvis Presley.

For an interesting, yet somewhat outdated, article on the tremendous success of Presley's record sales, see.

I am sure that if he were here to put voice to his thoughts Elvis would offer Jimmy a great big:

"Thank ya, Thank ya very much..."

    :)

I must say that I always liked Elvis and his music and even a few of his movies...

Maybe he would and a jelly doughnut to boot! Ha!

Yes, a few of his movies were very good. Jailhouse Rock and King Creole were perhaps his best.

I never understood why the Colonel switched him from dramatic roles to comedies that were were basically travelogues and monothematic.

But the voice, the voice was the best, especially on gospel songs.

King Creole was my favorite. I still like Elvis up on the stage looking down at Walter Mathau and singing, "if you are looking for trouble..."

great moment in motion picture history.

well, maybe not GREAT, but I thought it was cool.

That's my favorite also. That was a great scene. My favorite was when he and his dad had words and Elvis chastised him about being a coward.

It is also my favorite because it was my dad's favorite Elvis movie and the first time I watched it was when my dad introduced me to it. Since my dad passed away nearly 9 years ago, King Creole always reminds me of good times with him when I was a kid.

Not trying to be too sentimental or anything, but sometimes little things like that are comforting in weird ways. I remember when I was in New York (stationed in the Army) about 15 years ago, I smelled the cooks preparing sweet potatoes in the mess hall on Thanksgiving and my mouth started watering as I thought of home in Texas. I had always hated sweet potatoes before and have always loved them since. Everytime I eat one I think of that day... I guess King Creole is like that in a way.

  8. The King of the garbage groceries

Elvis, as well, the King of the garbage groceries, and the sky-scraping- advantage narcotics.

I do not recognize where the place is, however, I like the performance (Concert) that Elvis gives, witch he give the impression of being snooze. That's was gargantuan, he intone, sing in the flooring, shift all over the place, and the best of all, no body understand what he is singing, but, how did you articulate, he is the King.

    :D
