Donald Trump and The Apprentice 2 finally was a big joke.

Did anybody here watch the Apprentice 2 finally? I personally was very disappointed with what was going on and the way Donald Trump conducted the show. I personally thought that Jen Massey was a great contestant and did not deserve to be humiliated like that on national television. I was actually very surprised that she just didn’t get up and walk of the show. This is a very bright and hard working girl, that graduated at the top of here class at Princeton University and Harvard Law School, and is a lawyer at one of the worlds biggest law firms. Also what was up with the part when Trump said the audience to cheer and clap if they think that Jen should win or cheer and clap if they think that Kelly should win? HELLO!! Are we back in high school again? I certainly hope that he did not let that have any influence on his final decision. I swear last night this show was just one big disappointing circus, and next times please leave Regis Philbin at home, he seemed lost through out most of the show and looked like he didn’t know what he was doing.

I like to watch the show but, this one was a bit corny at the end.

It was live TV, that's not easy to do. With Regis having so many other things to do I really doubt that he had much time to prep at all. I think he did OK.

In the end, the best person won, imo.

Jen is very impressive but, just because someone is very impressive it in no way qualifies them for the top job.

  3. A few thoughts...

I agree that the finale was extremely cheesy, but then again, so was the original finale.

Jen would make a great lawyer for Trump, but I see nothing in her background or during the episodes (which are of course edited for effect) that demonstrates great leadership and business savvy.

It appears that the audience, Apprentice 1 members and others really believed Kelly was the best choice, despite not being as outwardly animated as Jen. I pegged Kelly way back in the first couple of episodes because of his education, proven leadership and experience.

Regarding her education, I wonder where Jen was really ranked. I heard the comments about being "top of her class" at Princeton and Harvard but then she said other things that seemed to indicate the top group, not necessarily #1. She received Magna Cum Laude honors for her Princeton English degree, but no mention of how she ranked at Harvard. Nonetheless, it's a great achievement.

She joined her current law firm (Clifford Chance) in 2002, the same year they opened their Palo Alto office (not exactly "San Francisco", but reasonably close I suppose). There are 2 partners and 5 lawyers in that office, so as long as the guy supporting her on TV was either Tower Snow or Daniel Harris I imagine that they would know her well, as it's a small office (despite being the world's largest).

I saw a lot of what I would call shameless self-promotion from Jen, essentially reading off her resume in all of the later boardrooms. Ultimately, that plus her confrontational nature did her in...

    Cheers,
    Mark

Both the final candidates were competent but not terribly exciting. I thought Jen was overly manipulative and tended to shirk responsibility. The best contestant in the group might have been Pamela, who got booted off early in the show for a stupid reason. Comparing seasons, all of the final 4 contestants in the first season were not only more interesting but ethically superior.

It just goes to show that in business there's three routes to success:

    1) being really competent and helpful
    2) being really manipulative and evil
    3) being really lucky

I missed several episodes of this one, but the last season was pretty good. I still think last season the best guy was Troy. He was a top performer and could sell a dog flees, but was fired based on his lack of education.

This time the same kind of thing happened. Sandy was fired instead of Jen because of her lack of education. I thought both Troy and Sandy should should have brought it up that they were already successful business people before the show and that the richest man in the world (far more wealthy than Trump) dropped out of college to start a software business. I would love to hear what the Donald would have said to that.

I agree on the comment about Troy as far as sales goes. The only problem was that he wasn't applying for a sales job. Being a slick salesman and being a CEO are very different things. It takes alot of skill and experience to be a top leader who can motivate, organize, develop and have a very good grasp on the overall picture of an operation This "field vision'' is really a rare find.

I did like Troy more than anyone else on the first two shows so far. I related alot to him as far as sales style and savy goes. I just think he, like myself, needs a bit more depth and sharpening. I think he has gotten by on his people skills and talent more than anything. Which, all by it's self is not really a bad thing. But if you really want to be a true leader of something big it takes much more discipline.

I have no doubt that he will go very far.

I hope to do the same.

I personally think that Jen is a lot more intelligent and analytical then Kelly. Also I feel that the why she was treated in the finally was very unfair. Trump did not even give here a fair chance in defending herself against Kelly.

I personally am not impressed with Sandy at all, and I have not idea how she got on the show in the first place. She is a college dropout who opened a bridal shop with a friend and is now the co-owner of a bridal shop. BIG DEAL! There is impressing nothing about that.

As usual Trump selected a heterosexual white male to be his apprentice. Geeeesh….. that was a big surprise. I sure did not see that one coming. NOT!

By the way when is the Apprentice going to have an openly gay candidate on the show? Or is the Trump Organization to conservative to hire an openly gay executive?

Sorry, but I think that a nice majority of people of both genders and all races, who have followed the show closely, would agree that Kelly was the best of the two, period. You have the right to think otherwise, but please don't try to pull a gender/race card to try to support your case. Pathetic.

I think Jen's strengths were evident when she was challenged verbally in the boardroom. She shut down Andy and even George. Being a top lawyer, that makes sense. But I do think she delegated tasks to shirk responsibility. But Trump could have done alot worse then Jen. In the end, the right person won but Jen did not deserve thelive beating...although she almost pulled it out once her and Kelly duked it out.

People kept praising Kelly's military experience, but I never heard anything specific. Was he a company commander? tank commander? Led combat missions? Based on the general said in the final episode, he just seemed to be a good paper pusher and gopher.

He also got lucky on that shopping channel task. I think his price point was too high and would have sold more if his price was a little lower.

I liked Jen, but one thing that bothered me the most about Jen was how she took credit for Ivana's "wheel" idea during the Levi's presentation. I think that turned a lot of viewers against her.

In general none of the contestants this season were particularly great.

  13. I think he was an adjutant - his military experience was only 3 years after West Point. So in reality, aside from the officer training and discipline there's nothing there that would matter either way.

I personally put more weight into the fact that he has his MBA and JD and also more life experience than Jen.

You world seems to gyrate around race, gender, and sexual orientation. Why?

I disagree with that. I am just a fan of the show and making an observation.

I agree with you Mark. In the finally Trump was going on and on about the fact that Kelly completed his undergrad degree at West Point, however he did not talk about Kelly’s JD and MBA from UCLA. I personally am a lot more impressed with the JD/MBA from UCLA then I am with his West Point undergrad degree.
