at this point however the one to entirely blame is the US evaluation/threading system.
I mean: it's ok if some mom&pop firm gets fooled by these "inkjet instant degrees".
It is even understandable if some fortune 100 company gets fooled by hiring someone as low end employee #676576579767854332 on the basis of some exotic degree.

It is a real shame & it should put all these big jocks in Washington to shame the fact that...what...nuclear plant/weapon technicians were allowed in with a cannibal island or inkjet degree?!!
    What's "security clearance"?
    Another brand of "Monopoli"?
I mean: and these idiots dare to blame the FSU because they say their personnel attending to nuclear plants is unprepared?!
I mean ok, it's just 4 or 44 out of 44.000 but it is scary & damn idiotic.

463 other government employees cost taxpayers $170,000 in tuition reimbursement. And three phony diploma employees are responsible for nuclear weapons security.

The federal government has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to employees reimbursing them for educational expenses getting these phony degrees and there's no criteria or nothing to stop it."

Indeed the clowns do have fast tracks criteria when it comes to tax & "homeland security" bogus laws.
Yet they're admittedly unable to deal with some guy in a basement using an inkjet printer...

I mean: Italy is a very low end country.
But no way one could do that with such inkjet degrees.
Perhaps some gullible private employer wanting to take one's word at face value anyway ( then you can question how "essential" the degree was to the job ).

Open University is NOT Harvard & not the United States government.
However they have a page listing all universities worldwide they think are ok for credit exchange etc.
I asked them and once one's university is NOT on that list, one must submit a documented request to their office for evaluation.
    It's that easy.

Looks like more propaganda from the Spin Doctors

George I thought we have been over this?

Numerous people, as you know, wrote in and explained that they have completed study at Buxton. Were they all telling fibs? Did these students from around the world hold a video-link meeting so that they could all concoct the exact same story of their Buxton experience?

As mentioned on here many, many times, any '2 bob' company can reproduce certificates as they do for most other universities (especially online ones). How many times does this need to be said? This is bad - but don't use Buxton as your scapegoat.

Also mentioned before, what is your REAL agenda here? Have you had a run-in with Buxton and you are bitter and twisted about it? You have put far too much energy into this over the last few months to be taken seriously.

Oh James, here you go again. Quite frankly, your anonymity bores me. I post stories as they come along, and are relevant to topics on the board. My PhD is the most important thing at the moment, and the 'Buxton Model' (for want of a better term) features in my research. So, yes, I am spending a little time on the topic, and am enjoying the research.

    Cheers,

    George

And is it true that the chapter titled 'Heroes' refers to Hogan?

A number of aliases did post and tell amazingly similar stories. The story was basically that they worked very hard in many classes and thought BU was a great school. They also could not remember one single itty bitty teeny tiny name of any instructor or administrator at this non-existant school. They could not name where this degree mill even claims to have gotten degree granting powers because it is NOT the UK! The only connection to this obvious degree mill on the internet was www.instantdegrees.com where a number of people reported seeing Buxton University degrees being sold for no work or tests including a journalist article.

I would like to say that I join the good Uncle Janko in a disgust of academic fraud and the scumbags that perpetuate it.

Seeing as how the several personas you refer to all descended on us at the same time and started posting to the same thread, they probably did coordinate somehow.

    Were they telling fibs? Probably.

I couldn't find any evidence on the web that Buxton is a real university. It's inconceivable to me that a real university could possibly exist without drawing any professional or academic comment from credible parties. Despite a long and convoluted thread, we never even managed to establish Buxton's physical address or what country it's supposedly located in. I do know that the British government has no record of it, despite its use of a London mailing address. At least two reporters report simply purchasing degrees from Buxton. And Buxton seems to be associated with several papers-for-sale plagiarism websites. All in all, not a pretty picture.

Stacked up against that are several internet personas that appeared here at the same time, offered no tangible information about the school that they were touting, and essentially said 'trust us'.

    Well, I don't.

Seriously, as degree-mills go, this thing is amateurish.

St. Regis University was creative, and even fascinating in a slow motion car-wreck sort of way. It actually made a real run at beating "GAAP", it had some spurious 'credential evaluators' in its corner, and it had some prominent Liberian figures on its side (or at least on its payroll). SRU was reselling Liberian accreditation and signing up a whole collection of franchises. It seemingly involved a who's-who of iffy-university figures at various times. SRU sweet talked us with erudite spokesmen who certainly did the best that they could with the material that they had.

But Buxton? It's nothing more than a crude degrees-for-dollars scam as far as I can see.

We need interesting new twists to keep us on our toes. VAE! Francophonie!

Yup, the Buxtion University facade is nothing but bald face liar(s) telling transparent lies with absolutely zero substance. Not a hidden trail of corporate ownership, no path of degree granting authority, no foreign ambassadors, no address to find a post office box, no name to associate with past convictions of mail fraud, no bogus accreditor, no web based test that pigeons could pass, no website with transplanted heads, nothing but transparent lies.

A Google search for Buxton University brings this thread up as #3. I think that is the reason why James has come back to play.

Yes, Degreeinfo is having posting problems and maybe the moderators are away on holidays.

Perhaps that is why Bill Huffman got away with calling Mr Hogan a 'scumbag'! Now other lesser mortals have been suspended from the forum for using such derogatory language.

    "...the scumbags that perpetuate it."

Buxton's Enemas List, or, Kicking Buxt--Part Two (Hose Off Yer Wellies)

Or maybe it's because Bill Huffman contributes in massively constructive ways to this whole project.

Or maybe it's because he's right.

Or maybe it's because his focus is on DL and not on derogating people for their religious beliefs in far more intemperate language than "scumbag" (wonder why I thought of that?).

Or maybe he's not really right after all. Given the esteemed Mr Hogan's weird interest in posteriors--use the search function--perhaps the Dynamo is a different sort of bag.

The religious issues are 'out there', Uncle. Discuss them if you wish, or can.

However, my level of debate do not stoop to name calling.

I still think Bill was out of line.

    On topic - Buxton University & http://www.instantdegrees.com

Yes, it is important that the thread about Buxton University and its link to http://www.instantdegrees.com and associated names of Bridgewater University and Canterbury University stays on topic.

Please - everyone - let's just refrain from the personal attacks and keep this thread alive about http://www.instantdegrees.com and the source of degrees ie Buxton University, Bridgewater University and Canterbury University.

    Cheers,

    George

    Good idea, George.

Now, could you explain to me why, whenever a crushingly obvious degree mill is exposed, a new poster shows up to complain about the "gang" in his/her very first post?

It's especially intriguing in light of the use of multiple shill names by partisan(s?) of Buxton.

You know Unc, now you mention it, it is fascinating, isn't it? I honestly cannot explain this phenomenon. For some reason, when this is mentioned, a whole range of new people appear, offering advice. I think it is commendable as it is an important for the new higher education consumer to understand what is on offer in the marketplace - including offerings such as http://www.instantdegrees.com and Buxton, Bridgewater and Canterbury.

    Cheers,

Please, OUTIS, let's try and keep this civil, ok? I know Unc flys off the handle some time, but with all due respect, he has been around on the board for sometime, and I am sure would have no problem in verifying his bona fides.

While we are on the topic, what is your background? I see you hail from Virginia. What qualifications do you have, and what is your background in the area of higher education? Your interest in Buxton, Canterbury and Bridgewater comes from what angle?

    Welcome to the board.

    Cheers,

    George

    Mr. Smith,

    I stand by my statement.

"disgust of academic fraud and the scumbags that perpetuate it."

It is a general statement and not directed at any particular individuals. I'm sterotyping all academic frauds as well as the people that perpetuate or even defend academic fraud as scumbags. If anyone took it personally then I would have to assume that they have a guilty conscience.

Perhaps the concept is striking too close to home so that you're not able to see the difference? Let's take another example of something that I find disgusting, the sexual molestation of children. (I certainly hope that this doesn't strike too close to home for you.) I am disgusted by child molestation and the scumbags that perpetuate it.

    Regards,

So Mr Hogan is a 'scumbag' and I am a 'child molester'!

If this last post stands, then I am sure the moderators are away on holidays!

Moderators, you either delete or seek an apology from the 'honorable' Mr Huffman.
