these really great photos of the nothern lights from Iceland: http://www.iww.is/art/shs/pages/thumbs.html
Iraq attacked us on 9/11? I didn't hear about that. And I prefer "civilization challenged" to barbarian.
Read the 9/11 Commission Report on the links between Hussein and the terrorists. I believe it's page 357.
I've asked the moderators to move the last few postings to the Political section. This is a northern lights thread, for goodness sake. Perhaps I'm just irritated, since seeing the Aurora Borealis has been a long-felt wish. Three times over the years, Marina and I spent a week or so in the north: at the U of Alaska in Fairbanks, at Athabasca in northern Alberta, in Churchill in northern Ontario. Each time the people said, "Oh you should have been here last week" or "The day after you left..." and other frustrating things. But, gee, Aurora and erupting volcano. That may be worth hanging out in Hafnarfjordhur for a winter.
It must be amazing to see in person. I suspect that the difference between viewing pictures of northern lights and seeing them in person is similar to the difference between seeing fireworks on TV versus in person.
I didn't see them in Iceland but I was fortunate enough five years ago to spend six weeks canoeing fishing and camping in the NWT. The aurora were in full bloom most nights and many, many times it was hard to give up and go to sleep. I agree with the Doc, seeing them while watching a Lava flow as in one of the Icelandic photos would just be overwhelming. Talk about the majesty of God's creation!
