Just curious. Is Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia still operating? I was trying to find them on the web and the site is down. Also another HBCU lost their accreditation, Barber-Scotia College, this summer. This distresses me for I have friends who graduated from there and I am a graduate of a HBCU, North Carolina Central University, myself. Any thoughts?
Looks like they are still around, but having problems with their web site. Maybe the server crashed and no one there over the holidays can get it back up.
MBC Lives Morris Brown College is still operating, but without federal financial aid. I don't know what Barber-Scotia is going to do. I believe they had a very small student body, to begin with. I don't know how they're going to keep their current students or attract new students without having financial aid eligibility. This whole thing is sad. But, maybe these loses of accreditation will make HBCUs straighten up their acts. I won't go into it here, but I'm sure you are well aware of what I'm getting at. Students at HBCUs (of which I was one at one time) have been complaining about some of the things that led to accred. loss for many years, but the administrations paid us no attention. Now they have to listen.
