Excuse for plagiarism: no time to do own work

    So this might be akin to the person who is so involved in other areas of his life that he can't hold down a job. Because he is otherwise occupied, he is then justified in stealing from others?
    I'm gonna turn Anglophile.

    Ahem. I believe that JISC, who run the Plagiarism service got their original ideas about how to build their service from a number of US universities ;-)

    If I ever go back to academic teaching in the humanities, it's going to be a very interesting service to use. Whilst it's very easy to spot regurgitated lecture notes (after all, I was the one who gave the lecture) and not so subtle liftings from and paraphrases of known authors (I've read them too), keeping track of whether somebody's lifted something from a website in Arkansas that was recommended on the Voice of the Shuttle is a tad more difficult.
