I'm finally getting that itch to go back to school for that doctorate. I never thought I'd say that. In another year, I'll have the money... and the itch.
Maybe we're compulsive in a positive way? How are your studies going at Old Dominion and are they online? What specialization are you seeking?
...either that or we're masochistic. Studies are going well. The studies are via distance learning through the university's TELETECHNET which is done via satellite uplink with a local higher education center. I am working on a Ph.D. in modeling and simulation. The Ph.D. program isn't officially offered via distance learning yet so I am enrolled in the masters program taking courses needed for the doctorate. It's kind of funny. Every course I need for the doctorate is offered either through their TELETECHNET or video streaming but they don't officially offer the doctorate though distance learning. According to the university, "The PhD program has not been formally set up in distance learning yet. Dr. Loftin [the modeling and simulation department head] has the paperwork to proceed to do this." As long as they have it in place before I start my dissertation; I don't mind.
Re: modeling Phd Same here but I don't think that is the type of degree I would like to do via distance learning. A more hands on approach would be necessary.
