Alright, I'm finally going to put this dog to bed. I REALLY need to get this off my chest.

First things first: AIU, owned by Career Education Corporation, is A FOR PROFIT educational institution. CEC, like others, are in the business of education to MAKE MONEY. With that said, here is an excerpt from an AIU Online job advertisement:

"American Intercontinental University is a leader in post secondary education and a part of Career Education Corporation, a public company and international leader in educational services located worldwide. Check us out at on the web at www.careered.com

Our fast paced College Admissions office is looking for high energy sales people who have above average communication skills and understand internet applications i.e. Email, Web, etc. to enroll students in our Study Abroad Programs."

    There it's done.

Secondly, I'm also a little tired of hearing that AIU is expensive. Sure, it may be hovering 24,000 and some odd dollars for a 13 month bachelor completion, but think about this: you're completing two years in just over one. So, stretch that price out (roughly 12,000 per year) and AIU is no worse than a lot other private colleges and universities in the U.S. that run on a tradition format.

    Respectfully,

    'Nova

Oh, and by the way, you can find that ad by going to monster.com and typing in "admissions".

I thought the salespeople at both CTU and AIU (same company) were pushy a-holes. That is the reason I choose not to do there. At least UoP Online understood why I didn't pick them over CSU-DH for my MBA.

Some are better than others. I have an AIU Admissions/Sales Rep. in my Organizational Psychology class. Here is a hint, it isn't at AIU or CTU! I also interviewed with the head of AIU marketing for the same position. It pays $30k+ and while not commission based you are responsible for the number of leads you close and that your closed students stay enrolled until they graduate.

The bit about students paying $12k per year would be legit IF you were truly receiving a full RA education. We did the numbers in a previous thread and found AIU students are getting approximately one half of the minimum hours required for 2 years of college level study. Any degree where you are being cheated out of an education is extremely expensive!

I know the founders of Careered very well - they are genuine, no nonsense guys who came from nothing. Quality is of paramount importance to them.

    Cheers,

    George
