    New York Post today:

The manufacturer of the popular Cold-Eeze nasal spray has withdrawn it from the market, in the wake of many claims and law suits that it destroyed peoples' senses of smell and taste.

    The Post reports:
"And it’s not easy to take the company’s claims for safety of the product at face value when the man who claims to have developed the product, one Robert S. Davidson, parts his name in the middle (as in R. Steven Davidson) and boasts a Ph.D. in “biopharmacuetical project management” from the so-called American University of Asturias, a Spanish-based diploma mill “university” that was shut down by the Spanish government after being caught issuing what purported to be advanced degrees in almost anything, to anyone whose checks didn’t bounce."

My father "parted his name in the middle", I didn't realize that it was a possible indicator for a lack of credibility. I'll have to re-evaluate some of the things he told me. ;)

The affected style of the article--almost to the point of unintelligibility--makes its author's judgments about affectation less than persuasive.

But I still won't squirt that stuff up my nose.

Carlos: What's up with the F. Scott Fitzgerald guy?

John: . . . whose full name, incidentally, was Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald.
