All good things must come to an end. I retired (transferred to the Fleet Reserve) on 31 October. My retirement ceremony was held in August, while deployed in the Persian Gulf, onboard the USS JOHN F. KENNEDY. In early October, I began my new career as a management analyst. I was pleasantly surprised to find the most difficult part of the job hunt was deciding which job to accept. I was presented with several excellent opportunities. I narrowed it down to two. The one I chose and a federal job, helping administer a graduate education program for senior DOD civilians. I ultimately decided to take the analyst position because it appears to present more opportunity for career development. Although I can see light at the end of the tunnel, for the MBA anyway, I’ve decided to take a short sabbatical from my studies in order to focus more fully on the skills required for the new job.
Congratulations, Charles! The smile never wipes off.... I was issued my blue ID and the smile almost 9 years ago (at age 36). Both have come in handy many times....
